History

House Built in 1812 for the British Prime Minister Jenkinson, the Manor House has played host to many famous names throughout its history. Lord Wellington

Lord Wellington would certainly have been entertained here during the Waterloo campaign, and in subsequent years, the house has been in the ownership of the poet Wordsworth's family, Lord and Lady Apsley and the Duke of Beaufort.

In the last 40 years as a 4-star hotel, it has welcomed the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Edward Fox, Christopher Reeve and Hugh Grant.

It is rumoured to have been a favourite rendezvous of a recent royal couple and it is said that we still share the house with several other less worldly occupants.
